Bicton College approved as first centre to deliver the VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid

We are delighted to announce that Bicton College has joined us as the first VetSkill approved centre to deliver the VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid.

It has been a pleasure welcoming the team at Bicton College and working with them throughout this exciting process. A leading land-based college in Devon, Bicton College forms part of The Cornwall College Group specialising in practical, hands-on courses.

Head of Veterinary Nursing Centre and Curriculum Area Manager at Bicton College, Jo Harrison, shares:

"The veterinary nursing team is thrilled to announce that we are the first to offer the VetSkill VTEC Level 3 Award in Canine First Aid qualification. This course reflects our commitment to providing relevant education and equipping veterinary professionals with the essential skills to respond effectively to canine emergencies. We are excited to lead the way in delivering this vital training, which will enhance the care and welfare of dogs across the industry."

Having been rigorously developed in conjunction with leading industry employers, this new Level 3 qualification is designed for learners who are currently working roles involving canine care, holding either employed or voluntary positions, or for those who are seeking to expand their canine first aid knowledge and skills.

Throughout the qualification, learners will gain the underpinning knowledge and practical skills required to effectively manage a range of canine first aid emergencies.

Learners completing the course will be able to identify and categorise canine emergency situations, and describe the signs, symptoms and management that can be applied to each situation. The qualification also explores the current legal restrictions and ethical limitations applicable when dealing with canine first aid emergencies.

We are thrilled to be expanding our scope and look forward to continuing to work with Bicton College as we introduce this qualification to new learners.
