VetSkill approved to deliver Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant end-point assessment
VetSkill is thrilled to announce the addition of Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant to our growing portfolio of end-point assessments (EPAs).
The Level 2 End-Point Assessment for Pharmacy Services Assistant (ST0299) has been developed in conjunction with industry experts, who have assisted in the creation of EPA and supporting materials for this standard. The EPA is now available for training providers and employers to enrol apprentices.
Kayleigh Robinson, End-Point Assessment Lead, shares:
“We are excited to be able to expand our end-point assessment portfolio. VetSkill already has experience of providing end-point assessment for regulated professions such as Veterinary Nurse and Farrier, so Pharmacy is a logical step for us as an end-point assessment organisation. We employ GPhC registered Pharmacy professionals in the team that hold the expertise in end-point assessment. Whilst we have extensive experience offering qualifications and EPA in the animal care sector and will continue to do so, our vision is to grow as an end-point assessment organisation and branch into some of the other sectors as we move into 2025”.
This brand new VetSkill end-point assessment prepares apprentices to become a Pharmacy Services Assistant (PSA), and consists of three assessment methods, including a Knowledge Test, Simulated Observation with question and answer session, and Professional Discussion.
Apprentices will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to support the supply, preparation and assembly of medicines and products, issuing them to patients and other healthcare professionals, and assisting in providing advice to patients. They will be responsible for the ordering and receiving of medicines, as well as the storage, disposal and return.
Pharmacy is an attractive industry for young professionals entering the workforce, with the demand for and scope of its services increasing annually, and strong opportunities for progression available. Many young people are keen to be involved in fields that allow them to help others and make a positive contribution to society.
VetSkill is an Ofqual, Skills England and DfE approved end-point assessment organisation, delivering EPAs for a range of standards. We put the apprentice at the heart of our service. Learn more about VetSkill’s EPAs here.
